Not Alone
By: Kristen L. McNulty
As we go about our days thoughts can flash across our mind, calling for our attention. And while some of these thoughts are good things, some of them are lies sent to our minds that we need to recognize for what they are: the furthest thing from the truth.
One of satan's favorite ones is to try to convince you that you really are totally and utterly alone.
These lies come disguised in phrases like:
"No one understands me."
"Nobody really cares about what I'm going through."
"God has to keep track of 7 billion people, what does He care about what I'm going through?"
"I wonder if anyone would truly notice if I was even gone."
Have you ever heard these thoughts skip across your mind? I know I have and I know who they come from. Satan would love nothing more than for us to believe that we are alone and that no one, especially God, really cares about us or the things we face in life.
Which is why it is so important that we know and cling to the Truth that is found in the Word of God. What does God's Word say about where He is no matter what we are faced with?
"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." (Psalm 56:8)
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away." (Romans 8:38)
I could fill pages upon pages with the amount of verses and stories there are in the Bible that remind us of exactly where God is. He is with us. He never leaves us and never forsakes us, no matter what is going on in our lives and no matter what we've done.
You are God's child. His masterpiece. He has created you uniquely. And He went to Calvary just for you. So He's not about to leave you stranded now. To do so, He'd have to change His very nature.
So the next time Satan starts whispering, recognize where it's coming from and stand strong in the knowledge that you have a God looking out for you every moment of every day who has promised to never leave you or forsake you. I couldn't think of any other person I'd rather have with me.
