He Is With Us
By: Kristen L. McNulty
Life can be very painful at times. People pass away. Families get broken apart. Friendships fail. Jobs get lost. Bank accounts empty. Our health declines.
There are so many moments that we experience in life where things don't make sense. Where we question our faith and ask things like "where is god in all of this?"
The answer to that question is he is with us. God might allow free will to happen on this earth and as a result sometimes we get hurt. And God might not have not removed us from this fallen world that produces the side effects of mans sin wars, stock market crashes, health problems because we've polluted what we eat and drink and breath. But don't let yourself think for one minute that it means He's washed his hands of us. It's the exact opposite! God through Jesus came down into this broken world and offered a way of redemption to anyone who believes. That might mean waiting for perfection in heaven, but in the mean time He does not leave us here alone in the meantime.
Matthew 28:20 - "[Jesus said] and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Psalm 23:4 - "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Romans 8:38-39 - "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below- indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."
When trouble strikes God isn't like some bad friend who bails, no He's like the parent who just pulls the child closer to protect them and make sure they know just how much they are loved. God is with us and the BIble is very clear that nothing we go through could ever separate us from Him.
Yes sometimes in life we have to go through things that will shake our foundations, cause us pain, and even make us feel lonely, but that's no time to throw in the towel. Instead it's a time to draw near to God, as we're told in James chapter 4, draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
And when He does, His strength will allow you to carry the load. His peace will quiet your uneasy heart. His love will comfort your saddened heart. And His presence will chase your loneliness away. And that's something we don't need to wait to go to heaven to experience! He is with us.
