I know where you're at. I get where you must be. You're facing a fear, a doubt, a problem or a trial and even though you hope and you pray, deep down inside you're afraid that this issue is something that you don't think you can handle. You're afraid that you're facing this one alone or maybe even worse, God's there but He's not able or going to act. And while I can't promise you that whatever problem or situation that's in front of you is going to disappear, I can promise you this: if God doesn't remove it, He's going to bring you through it! And how can I make that promise? Because I have a copy of God's resume and it's second to none.
In the Bible there is story after story after story of God bringing His people through some pretty inconceivable trials and situations.
From His presence with Daniel in the lions den. To His journey with Jonah in the belly of a great fish. To the sustaining strength He gave to Paul in prison. To His walk on the water with Peter. We see over and over and over again that not only is God there when life gets heavy and hard, but He walks through every trial with us, giving us exactly what we need to not just survive the tough times, but thrive in and through them.
As someone who has had three major surgeries and four minor ones in the past five months, I can tell you that's true. Even when the miracle doesn't come in the removal of the painful situation, the greater miracle occurs when we find out that with God with us we are truly more than conquers of any problem, trial or situation.
2 Corinthians 4:8-10: "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies."
That my friends is a promise straight from God's Word and if one isn't enough, let's run through a few more:
Psalm 46:1-3: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."
Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 40:29: "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless."
2 Corinthians 12:9: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
And my favourite,
Deuteronomy 31:8: "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
So no matter what you are facing right now, know that God is going to get you through. His resume is filled with the lives of people in generation after generation who have seen God pull them through and walk with them through situations just like yours. And when you start to doubt, pick up His resume, aka the Bible and know that just like He came through for them, He's coming through for you. Invite Him to journey with you and He's not going to leave you stranded.
