For Those Who Feel Like Giving Up
By: Kristen L. McNulty
Do you feel like you've reached the end of your rope and that rather than fight to hold on you just want to let go and drop into a free fall? Have you lost your hope? Are you tired of getting beaten down day after day and feeling like try as hard as you may, it's not going to change?
I'm here to tell you one thing that I hope you can hang onto- don't give up. The darkness you're feeling now is not the way it has to be for the rest of your life. You can not only find a glimpse of hope, you can walk through every day in this life immersed in it.
The same God that created the earth we live in and every part of your being not only sent His Son to die so that we could have eternal life, but sent Him to bridge the gap between God and us while we're on this earth. You don't need to walk alone. Jesus will be there every step of the way and will be the light in the middle of all the darkness you carry, all you have to do is ask.
Listen to this verse from John chapter 8:
"Jesus said: 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" (John 8:12)
That is not some outdated offer. You can have the One who is the Light of the World walking with you every day, bringing hope into every moment and giving you strength to bear whatever you face in life.
I know how it feels to hit rock bottom. I did and it wasn't pretty. I felt isolated and alone, with the weight of the world on my shoulders, pushing me down until it felt like I was about to drown. But something remarkable happened to me when I called out to God for help. He answered my cry and brought hope, light, healing and restoration to both myself and in my life. And He can do the same for you. Jesus came to save those who feel like giving up. Right now wherever you are, why don't you join me in asking Him for a hand?
Jesus you know me and you know that I've reached the end of myself. I've got nothing left to give. I ask you to come into my heart, forgive me of my sins and shine Your light into my life. Walk with me everyday and give me Your strength. Amen.
