Am I Blessed?
By: Kristen L. McNulty
Have you ever heard someone say 'I wish God would bless me' or maybe have caught yourself saying it?
It's pretty common to fall into the trap of thinking that just because our lives aren't perfect or someone else seems to have it better that means that God isn't blessing us. I disagree.
Let me read a few verses and as I do put yourself in them:
"He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding." (Ephesians 1:7-8)
Let me paraphrase. God is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased YOUR freedom with Jesus blood and forgave all of YOUR sins.
Wow and I mean wow. If we know that we are forgiven and saved from an eternity paying the consequences for our mistakes all because of what someone else has done, laid down their life, how could we ever question that persons love or motives?
We who were once separated from God from our sins now have been forgiven, have been promised eternity with Him, and above all that He promises to walk through this life with us, guiding us as we follow Him. Blessed much? I think so!
So the next time you or are catch ourselves looking with envy at the car someone else drives or the circumstances someone else finds themselves in we need to pause and thank God for the ultimate blessing He has given and remind ourselves that it is enough. Closing with Ephesians chapter 1, verse 3:
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ."
Indeed.
