This past week marked seven years to that day that I made the best decision that I have ever made in my life: the decision to follow Christ.

Just as Jesus called Peter (recorded in Luke 5) to drop everything to follow Him, Christ called me out of my seat in a stadium filled with 11,000 other young people to leave it all behind and follow Him. And that I did and I haven't looked back since.

In some ways its hard to believe that day was seven years ago because a heck of a lot has happened since then but above all that these have been the best seven years of my life.

Having Christ in me has changed everything. Where once I was an unhappy and probably somewhat depressed teenager with an awful lot of hang-ups, He transformed me and everyday by His side has been amazing!

Has it been easy? No. In fact this past year alone has been one of the hardest in my life. But even between the losses, the major health complications and the uncertainties, it has been good.

Why? Because when we invite Christ to come into our lives, everything changes. No longer do we face life alone. Instead we have a friend who stays by our side through it all. And in Jesus we find life and find that it is more than worth living. In a world filled with hopelessness, that's one pretty amazing gift!

And as much as I appreciate this amazing gift and the change that has occurred in my life, I wouldn't be doing it justice if I didn't invite you to share it with me.

Because the truth of the matter is Jesus didn't come just to die for my sins and to offer me abundant life- He came for you too! And just like He has changed my life, if you allow Him to, He can come into your life and turn it upside down.

So what do you say? Seven years ago I did the best thing that I've ever done when I said 'yes' to Jesus. Today I invite you to do the same.

Because in Him you'll find hope in the dark. Life in the midst of sorrow. Peace in the stormy seas. And above all a friend who loves you and will never leave your side.

And that is one gift that just can't be refused.
