Part Three: Through Passion and Prayer

After hearing the title of this week's impact devotional you may be wondering what in the world I could possibly be talking about. How do you share your faith through prayer? God doesn't need to be witnessed to.
Well, that's true, but in order to effectively share our faith and see those around us become Christians, we must spend tons of time in prayer. Who should I pray for? You may be asking, well a great place to start is with those around you. Pray for family members, friends, teachers, those you work with, and pray for them on a daily basis. Prayer is the most powerful tool a Christian has and we must take advantage of that when trying to reach souls.
Now while we obviously should spend time praying for an eternal change to occur in those around us, we should also be praying for a change to happen within our own hearts. You see, it's very easy to be a complacent Christian, especially when it comes to reaching out to the lost. I know in my own life, it's easy to forget that not everyone around me is on their way to heaven. That is why we as Christians need to start asking God to give us a passion for reaching the lost, the same passion that He has for them.
What kind of passion does God have for the lost? The kind of passion that He and all of heaven rejoices when just one soul turns to Him (Luke 15:9). The kind of passion that would cause Him to leave 99 of the righteous to find one sinner (Luke 15:3-7). The kind of passion would inspire Him to give prodigal a party when he returns home (Luke 15:22). The kind of passion that had Jesus traveling throughout Isreal to reach the lost where they were (Matthew 9:35). The kind of passion that would go from heaven to earth to a cross just to reach our hearts.
I don't know about you, but I want some of that passion. I want to get to heaven and see lots of people I recognize around me. I want to share this life changing experience that I've had. I want to lead others to Him and I think this all starts with prayer.
We need pray today and every day that God would give us a passion for souls and that He would use us to reach those around us. Let's pray together right now:
Father,
We come before You today asking for passion. A passion to reach those around us with Your love. This isn't something we can do on our own, so we ask You to do it for us. Light our hearts on fire and let others see something different when they look at us.
In Jesus's name.
